Builder needs a plumber? Ring the workshop

Renovation plumbing, in your builder’s program.

Bathroom rough-in, kitchen relocate, laundry rebuild, ensuite addition, extension wet areas. The plumbing scope that makes a renovation hang together. We work to your builder’s schedule, coordinate with the tilers and electricians, and certify the gas and water work at sign-off. Plumbing scope only, across Penrith and Western Sydney homes.

§02 / Why you’re on this page

Four ways a reno arrives.

Most renovation calls land at our workshop in one of four shapes. Quick read on which one is yours so you know what to mention when you ring.

Scenario 01

Builder needs a plumber.

Your builder has the scope drawn up, the trades program is going together, and they need a licensed plumber slotted in for rough-in and fit-off dates. We work to their program.

What we need Builder’s contact, the drawings, and the date range they’re working to.
Scenario 02

DIY reno, licensed plumbing needed.

You’re doing the demo, painting, tiling layout yourself, but need a licensed plumber for the actual plumbing scope. We can drop in for the part that legally needs a licence, hand back to you.

What we need A sketch of what’s going where, and a clear cut-off between your work and ours.
Scenario 03

New ensuite or wet area added.

Converting a bedroom corner to an ensuite, adding a powder room, or running new wet areas as part of an extension. New supply lines, drainage, hot water relocation, the lot.

What we need Where the new wet area sits relative to existing services, and what’s available behind the wall.
Scenario 04

Old reno, plumbing needs fixing.

A previous renovation left you with a slow shower drain, dodgy hot water mixing, or a hidden leak that’s only just appeared. We diagnose, fix, and bring the install back up to standard.

What we need When the reno was done, what you’re seeing now, and access to the relevant fittings.
What we do (and don’t do)

We handle the plumbing scope only: water supply, drainage, hot water, gas, fixture rough-in and fit-off. We don’t do waterproofing, tiling, electrical, or full bathroom renovation as a one-stop service. If you want a single trade to manage the whole reno, you want a builder. If you want a licensed plumber who works cleanly inside one, that’s us.

§03 / The four scopes

Where the plumbing happens.

Most renovation calls are one of these four scopes. Some renos combine two or three. Same plumber, same program, same standard for each.

Scope 01 / Bathroom

Bathroom rough-in & fit-off.

The most common reno scope. Rough-in for shower, basin, bath and toilet, hot and cold supply, waste, vent. Then fit-off after the waterproofing and tiling go in. Two visits, sometimes three.

Visits
2 to 3
Time on tools
2 to 4 days

We cover

  • Supply lines (hot & cold)
  • Waste & drainage rough-in
  • Fixture fit-off & commission

We don’t cover

  • Waterproofing membrane
  • Tiling or screeding
  • Electrical or lighting
Best for Full bathroom redo, ensuite addition, or a tired bathroom with new fixtures and a layout change. Plays cleanly with builders and DIY layouts.
Scope 02 / Kitchen

Kitchen relocate & rough-in.

Sink relocation, dishwasher point, gas cooktop rough-in, fridge water line, sometimes a butler’s pantry. The most common combined plumbing + gas reno scope.

  • Sink supply & waste relocation
  • Dishwasher & fridge water point
  • Gas cooktop rough-in & cert

We don’t cover

  • Cabinetry or stone bench
  • Range hood electrical
  • Splashback or finishes
Best for Layout changes that move the sink or cooktop, butler’s pantry additions, or kitchen upgrades that add appliances needing water or gas.
Scope 03 / Laundry

Laundry rebuild or relocate.

Washing machine taps, drainage, tub plumbing, sometimes a relocation from old position to a new one as part of a wider reno. Smaller scope than a bathroom but the same fundamentals.

Visits
1 to 2
Time on tools

We cover

  • Washing machine taps & waste
  • Laundry tub install & connect
  • Relocation supply & drainage

We don’t cover

  • Cabinetry or benchtops
  • Tiling or splashbacks
  • Dryer venting (build trade)
Best for Laundry refresh as part of a wider reno, or relocating the laundry from one part of the house to another during an extension build.
Scope 04 / Extension

Extension wet areas & supply.

New wet areas in a ground-floor extension or a second storey. New supply runs from the main, drainage to the existing stack, hot water relocation if needed. Largest plumbing scope of the four.

Visits

Time on tools
4 to 10 days

We cover

  • New supply lines from main
  • Drainage tie-in to existing stack
  • Hot water relocation if needed

We don’t cover

  • Structural or framing work
  • Waterproofing membrane
  • Civil drainage / stormwater main
Best for Ground-floor extensions adding a bathroom or laundry, second-storey additions with new ensuites, or granny flats that need full new wet-area plumbing.
§04 / The Penrith reality

The reno wave.

Penrith is in the middle of a renovation cycle that’s been running for years. The new estates in Jordan Springs, Glenmore Park and Caddens are still being built out. The 1970s and 80s brick veneer stock across Cambridge Park, South Penrith and Werrington is being updated by second and third owners.

Two different reno worlds. New-build extras (butler’s pantry, second living, ensuite addition) versus older-home retrofits (kitchen layout changes, ageing bathrooms, gas hot water swaps). Both need a plumber who turns up when the builder needs them.

The unglamorous truth about reno plumbing: the value isn’t just the rough-in, it’s being there on the day your builder needs you to be there. That’s what we’re set up for, locally.

Two PVS visits, scheduled to your builder’s calendar. Typical bathroom reno spans 4 to 8 weeks end-to-end. Plumbing accounts for 2 of those visits but unblocks the whole sequence.

§05 / How a reno plumbing job runs

From “can you do this” to fit-off sign-off.

The shape of a reno plumbing job, whether it’s a single bathroom or a full extension. Times vary, the sequence doesn’t.

1

Phone brief.

You or your builder tells us the scope, the date the rough-in is needed by, and the date fit-off is wanted. We confirm we can fit your program.

2

On-site walkthrough.

We come out, walk the space with the drawings, check what’s behind walls and under floors, and write a firm quote covering rough-in and fit-off. Quote is the total, not a daily rate.

3

Rough-in day.

Supply lines run, waste & vent installed, gas line stubs where needed, fixture rough-ins set to manufacturer specs. We leave the space ready for waterproofing.

4

Fit-off day.

After tiling, we come back, install fixtures, connect supply, test under pressure. Gas appliance commissioning if relevant. Compliance certificate issued at completion.

5

Walk-through & warranty.

Show you how to isolate everything, run through any care notes for the fittings, and your 12-month workmanship warranty kicks in. Invoice emailed through to you.

§06 / Who we work with

Builders, designers, and homeowners.

Most of our reno work runs alongside a local builder, but we also work straight with homeowners running their own DIY projects. The standard is the same either way.

§07 / Renovation plumbing FAQ

The questions builders and homeowners ask.

Direct answers from a Penrith plumber. If your question isn’t here, send it through and we’ll add it.

Do you work with builders directly or only with homeowners?
Both. Most of our reno work is through a builder who’s running the overall job, so we slot into their program and invoice them directly. We also work straight with homeowners doing their own DIY reno, where you handle the build trades yourself and we drop in for the licensed plumbing scope. Either way the standard’s the same.
Can you do the waterproofing too?
No. Waterproofing is a specialist trade and a separate licence in NSW. We don’t do it, and we don’t pretend to. Your builder will have their preferred waterproofer, or we can recommend one if you’re running the reno yourself. We sequence around them so they get into the space at the right point.
DIY reno — can you certify the work I’ve already done?
No, we can’t certify someone else’s plumbing work. In NSW, licensed plumbing has to be done by a licensed plumber from the start. If you’ve installed something yourself and want it certified, we’d need to redo it to standard and certify our own work. We’ll be upfront about what needs redoing and quote accordingly.
How do you coordinate with the electrician and the tiler?
If a builder is running the job, they coordinate the order of trades. If you’re running the job yourself, we’ll work to a program with you on the on-site quote so each trade gets in at the right time. The key sequence is: framing and rough-in (us) before waterproofing, then tiling, then fit-off (us again). Get that order wrong and someone has to come back twice.
How long does a bathroom rough-in take?
A standard single-bathroom rough-in is usually a one-day job on the tools, sometimes two if there’s drainage work that needs cutting into a slab or if the layout has moved meaningfully from the existing fixture positions. Fit-off after the tiling is back is typically half a day. Larger renos with multiple wet areas scale from there.
Adding a new ensuite where there wasn’t one. What’s involved?
More than a refit because we have to run new supply lines and new drainage to the existing services. The closer the new ensuite is to existing wet areas, the simpler the runs. Slab cuts add cost and time. Drainage falls and vent runs need to work to standard, so we’ll plan that out at the on-site quote rather than guess from the drawings alone.
What’s the warranty?
12 months on our workmanship, parts and labour both. If anything we installed fails inside that window from a workmanship cause, we come back and fix it free. The fixtures and appliances themselves come with their manufacturer’s warranty (varies by brand, usually 1 to 10 years). We hand over the documentation and handle warranty claims on your behalf if a unit fails inside its warranty.
§08 / Get the plumbing booked

Reno on the calendar? Lock us in.

Ring the workshop and tell us the scope, the builder if you’ve got one, and the dates you’re working to. We’ll book the on-site walkthrough and quote the plumbing scope.
