Station failed its test or a worn valve has started leaking. Replace the failed component (valve set, eyewash head, tepid blender cartridge) or the full unit. Recertify to AS 4775 and put it back on the register.
Portable and self-contained eyewash stations where plumbed water isn’t practical. Quarterly fluid checks, change-outs on the preserved water or saline cartridges, fitting checks, and the same annual performance test.
Western Sydney industrial chemical handling and manufacturing sites run on AS 4775. Wetherill Park, Smithfield, Eastern Creek, Erskine Park and the Penrith industrial estates are full of plants where the annual shower and eyewash test is a non-negotiable line item.
The AS 4775 minimums every site should know: shower flow at least 75.7 L/min for a sustained 15 minutes, eyewash at least 1.5 L/min, water tepid between 16°C and 38°C, and the station reachable within 10 seconds of the hazard with no obstructions in the path.
