§01 / In short

Every test your site owes, one booking.

Short answer

PVS Plumbing’s compliance visit tests the plumbing devices most Western Sydney sites must keep certified, in one booking: testable backflow devices including fire service detector assemblies, and emergency showers and eyewash stations. Results are lodged where the rules require it, certificates are issued, and the site gets one register with every due date on it.

No asset list yet? The first visit makes one, and every visit after that runs from it.

§02 / What’s tested

The devices this visit covers.

Each has its own page with the detail. This visit brings them together on one day where the due dates allow it.

Something else on the same site: a grease trap, a gas job, a maintenance account? See commercial plumbing for the full list, or send it all through the one enquiry below.

§03 / The calendar behind it

Why each test runs on its own clock.

The devices in this visit sit on different intervals and different rules. This is the calendar we work to.

General position for sites in the Sydney Water area, checked September 2026. Your approvals, your devices and the standards themselves decide the detail.
Device or system How often The rule Who lodges or keeps the record
Testable backflow devices, such as RPZ and double check valves When installed, then every 12 months Sydney Water requires high and medium hazard devices to be tested by an accredited backflow plumber. A site that has not been assessed is treated as high hazard. The tester lodges the results with Sydney Water within 2 days
Fire service connections Every 12 months Sydney Water requires a testable double check detector assembly on sprinkler and fire hydrant connections. As a medium hazard device it follows the same annual test rule as other backflow devices. The tester, with Sydney Water
Emergency showers and eyewash stations Regular activation, plus inspection and flow testing at the intervals in AS 4775:2026 Workplaces that use hazardous chemicals must provide suitable emergency equipment (SafeWork NSW code of practice). AS 4775 was reissued in June 2026. The site keeps the activation log; the plumber certifies the flow test
Gas installations Every job Certificate of Compliance through Building Commission NSW’s eCert portal, mandatory since 1 March 2026 The gasfitter, within 5 business days
Grease traps and trade waste Approval before discharge, then regular pump-outs Sydney Water approval for trade wastewater; a grease trap needs a connection agreement Pump-outs by an authorised liquid waste transporter, not the plumber
§04 / Why sites keep the visit booked

The same plumber, every year.

PVS Plumbing has kept compliance dates for accounts including the Brickworks group, Penrith RSL and Knauf Gypsum for between 15 and more than 20 years. The same crew, the same register, no re-quoting argument on every visit.

§05 / Paperwork

  • Licence 309265C. NSW plumbing and gas, current and on the public record.
  • Certificates of currency. Public liability and workers compensation, sent before we attend.
  • Test results lodged. Backflow results to Sydney Water within 2 days, where lodgement is required.
  • One register. Every device, its last test date and its next due date, on one list.

§07 / Compliance FAQ

What managers ask us.

Direct answers from a licensed NSW plumber. General information for sites in the Sydney Water area.

What is a plumbing compliance visit?
One booked visit that tests the plumbing devices a commercial or industrial site is required to keep certified: testable backflow devices, including fire service detector assemblies, and emergency showers and eyewash stations. Where the dates allow, all of it happens on the same day, results are lodged where the rules require it, and the site is sent one register showing every device and when it is next due.
Can you test everything in one visit even if the due dates do not line up?
Where the dates are close, yes, and that is usually the point of sending an asset list early: we can bring a device forward or hold one back so future visits land together. Where a date is genuinely months away, we test what is due and note the rest on the register for the following visit.
Do you lodge backflow results with Sydney Water for us?
Yes. Testable backflow devices, including fire service detector assemblies, must be tested every year by an accredited backflow plumber, with results lodged within 2 days of the test. We do the test and the lodgement as one job.
We do not have a list of what devices are on site. Can you make one?
Yes, that is what the first visit is for. We walk the site, identify every testable device, and hand back a register with what is there and when each one is next due. Every visit after that runs from that list.
Can you work around our trading or production hours?
Yes. Compliance visits are booked before you open, after you close or into a shutdown window where one is running. Standard hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday; work outside them is by arrangement, at an uplifted rate we tell you before booking.
What happens if a device fails its test?
We tell you on the day, quote the repair or replacement, and note the failure on the register so it is not forgotten. A failed backflow device or fire service assembly is a priority repair, since the site is not protected until it passes.
Do you cover grease traps or gas fitting in the same visit?
Not in this visit; grease trap and gas work are quoted and scheduled separately, since they run to their own rules and timing. Tell us about them in the enquiry below and we will scope them alongside the compliance visit so the site gets one point of contact.
