§01 / In short

The plumber who already knows the plant.

Short answer

PVS Plumbing is a Penrith-based industrial plumber that keeps manufacturing sites running. The Brickworks group’s brick plants and Yates Manufacturing have kept Peter Smith on their books for more than 20 years each, and Knauf Gypsum’s plasterboard plant for 15.

We install and maintain process water, compressed air, gas and drainage pipework in copper, stainless steel, HDPE and PVC, plan shutdown work around production, and send SWMS and certificates of currency before we arrive.

§03 / Shutdown planning

Drawings first, then the tools.

Plant work lives or dies on the program. The discipline is the same on every job, from a single tie-in to a full shutdown.

1

Drawings first.

Send the drawings, the equipment list and the window. We price from them and ask our questions before the shutdown, not during it.

2

Paperwork lodged.

SWMS for the scope, certificates of currency with the induction, and permits to work raised before a tool is lifted.

3

Isolations agreed.

Every isolation point walked with your maintenance lead, then locked out and tagged for the duration.

4

Inside the window.

Work runs to the agreed window. Lines are pressure tested and flushed before the plant goes back into production.

5

Records handed over.

Photos through the job, test results where the work calls for them, and marked-up drawings on request.

§04 / Materials

The right pipe for what it carries.

Eight pipe systems, each matched to its job. This is the map we work to.

Medical and specialist gases are outside our scope.
Material What we run in it
CopperPotable water, gas, instrument lines and compressed air
Stainless steelProcess and hygienic lines, potable water and compressed air
Pressure PVCProcess water
HDPEDrainage and trade waste
PEBuried mains and site distribution
PVCDrainage, waste and stormwater
PEXPotable water

§05 / The accounts that stay

Long-term industrial plumbing accounts: Brickworks, Yates Manufacturing and Knauf Gypsum.

Manufacturing sites keep a plumber on the call list when the plumber already knows the plant: where the isolations are, which line runs where, and what the shutdown calendar looks like.

Peter has been plumbing since 2000 and has run PVS since 2017. The accounts on the right span that whole time.

References from a plant like yours are available on request.

Cleared for site before day one.

§08 / Industrial FAQ

What maintenance managers ask us.

Direct answers from a licensed NSW plumber. General information for sites in the Sydney Water area.

What does an industrial plumber do?
An industrial plumber installs and maintains the pipework a plant runs on: process water, compressed air, gas supply, trade waste and drainage, plus the compliance items that come with them, such as testable backflow devices and emergency showers. Most of the work is planned around production, with isolations agreed and lines tested before the plant goes back on.
Can you work during our shutdown?
Yes, that is where most plant work lands. Send the drawings and the window early. We price from the drawings, prepare the SWMS and permits, agree isolations with your maintenance lead and run to the window, then pressure test and flush before handback.
Which pipe materials do you work in?
Copper, stainless steel, pressure PVC, PVC, HDPE, PE, PEX and aluminium, each matched to what the line carries: stainless steel and pressure PVC for process water, copper, stainless steel or aluminium for compressed air, and HDPE or PVC for drainage and trade waste. Medical and specialist gases are outside our scope.
Do you supply SWMS and complete site inductions?
Yes. A SWMS prepared for the scope, JSAs in your format where required, and certificates of currency for public liability and workers compensation, all before the first visit. Most of our long-standing accounts have us pre-registered in their contractor management systems, and we complete inductions through yours.
Do you service pumps on site?
We diagnose, remove and refit pumps and booster sets on site. The rebuild itself goes to a pump specialist off site, and when the pump comes back we refit it and test the system.
Our emergency shower failed its flow test. Can you fix it?
Yes, when the fault is in the plumbing, such as a partly closed valve or a supply that cannot deliver the flow the unit needs. We find the cause, fix it, re-test the unit and replace units that are past repair. AS 4775 was reissued as AS 4775:2026 in June 2026, so check your test sheets against the current edition.
Do industrial sites need backflow testing?
Almost always. In the Sydney Water area, a site that has not been assessed is treated as high hazard, and testable devices must be tested when installed and every year after, by an accredited backflow plumber, with results lodged within 2 days. Fire service connections need a detector assembly, which follows the same annual rule.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Penrith and look after plants across Western Sydney, including the Dunheved, Erskine Park, Wetherill Park and Marsden Park industrial areas. Long-standing accounts take us further, to brick plants in the Hawkesbury and Bowral.
